Deron R. Herr, President

Dr. Herr received a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from a joint doctoral program between San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego in 2004.He is currently working as a research associate at The Scripps Research Institute while serving as Chief Scientific Officer of Expression Drug Designs, LLC.He is actively engaging in research in two main areas:1) signal transduction of bioactive lipid molecules and 2) mechanisms of gene regulation.Both of these basic cellular processes are important mechanisms underlying many diseases, including cancer.

 

Catherine V. Howard, Chairperson of the Board

Ms. Howard has a long history of success in the business/publishing community.She recently retired from her position as Vice-President of Mitchell International and General Manager of its National Auto Glass Specifications division.She is currently the treasurer of the De Anza chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.She brings experience and clarity to the Board of Directors.

 

Shawn Connolly, Vice-chairperson of the Board

Mr. Connolly received a degree in physics from Truman State University in 1996.He is currently working as an analytical chemist at University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.The diversity of his experience and technical expertise makes Mr. Connolly a valuable asset to the Board of Directors.

 

Nicholas C. Howard, Treasurer

Mr. Howard is a certificated paralegal who has received a bachelorís degree in government and a masterís degree in public policy from the College of William and Mary.He served in an internship for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kuwait, has worked in the office of Senator Diane Feinstein, and is currently a consultant for leadership and public ethics at the World Bank.Mr. Howard brings legal and political expertise to the Board of Directors.

Lisa E. Morrison, Secretary

Dr. Morrison received a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from a joint doctoral program between San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego in 2003.She is currently working as a scientist at Celgene, Inc. developing novel drugs for the treatment of cancer and diseases of the immune system.Her experience with drug production allows her to critically evaluate the potential successes of proposed research projects.
