Incorporated on September 6, 2006, the Sponsor a Cure Foundation is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization that was established as a service for individuals wishing to provide financial support for biomedical research. Individual donations fund endowments that provide a named, annual award in perpetuity. Depending on the size of the donation, benefactors may sponsor graduate students or post-doctoral fellows with scholarships, or may provide resources to fund innovative projects in a particular field of study. Administrative costs are paid by volunteers of the Foundation so that 100% of the revenue generated from individual endowments go directly to fund research. All contribution to the Foundation are exempt from federal income tax under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
